The award can also recognize those individuals who have made significant contribution in forwarding petroleum data management as a profession and craft. Cornerstone Award(s) may be given at the annual meeting of the PNEC Data and Information Management Conference. 2012 Cornerstone Award Selection Committee and PNEC Conferences Announces Awards and Recognition DALLAS, Texas--April 16, 2012—Recognizing significant accomplishments in upstream petroleum data management, the PNEC Cornerstone Award Selection Committee with the assistance of Petroleum Network Education Conferences, Philip C. Crouse and Associates, Inc., today announced the PNEC awards and recognition to be presented at the end of the 16th International Conference on Petroleum Data Integration, Information and Data Management to be held in Houston on May 15-17, 2012. The Cornerstone Award was founded in 2006. 2012 Cornerstone Award Selection Committee Chair Fred Kunzinger, Senior Manager of Global Data Management for Hess Corporation, Houston, Texas USA, noted two people who have made significant contributions to the E&P petroleum data management community will receive this year’s Cornerstone Award.
 "Madelyn Bell, Commercial Data Advisor for ExxonMobil Technical Computing Company in Houston, Texas USA, epitomizes advancing petroleum data management over her career. During her career of 35 years in the petroleum industry, Madelyn has applied her vast oil and gas experience productively to the ever-changing world of data and information management, contributed tirelessly to the need for data standards, advised many of her peers on the “problems of today”, and continues to encourage all in this industry to strive for excellence. She participated in the earliest stages of building US-wide well files and continues to be a significant quality and completeness proponent for licensed data, holding the data providers accountable to the same high standards to which she holds herself to the benefit of not only her company, but the industry as a whole. She is a member of AAPG, SEG, and PPDM. Madelyn will be presented with the Cornerstone Award citing her work and contributions to advancing upstream petroleum data management in the industry.” Kunzinger noted.

Kozman, Lead Data Management Practitioner and Consultant, Westheimer Energy Consultants Inc., Houston, Texas USA, will be recognized for his twenty-seven years of data management best practices during which he has developed many innovations in the global E&P data management sector and shares those best practices with his entertaining style of speaking and active role as a mentor. Jess is a passionate professional who has shared his craft to the industry.” He has implemented information solutions for international clients at over 20 locations and for data from all 7 continents. Jess is a certified petroleum geophysicist with AAPG and a licensed professional geoscientist with the State of Texas. Jess Kozman will be presented with the Cornerstone Award citing these contributions to industry, noted Kunzinger. Philip C. Crouse, PE, President of Philip C. Crouse and Associates, Inc. and PNEC Conferences noted that the Cornerstone Award Committee was to be congratulated for the selections. “The committee was composed of an excellent cross-section of companies that lead the advancement of petroleum data and information management.” Crouse noted the selection committee members were Chair Fred Kunzinger, Senior Manager of Global Data Management for Hess Corporation, Cora Poche, Team Lead, Seismic DM, for Shell Exploration and Production, Pam Koscinski, Retired Former Director of Well Information Management for Chesapeake Energy Corporation, and Paul Haines, senior Principal and Upstream Lead for Noah Consulting.
Criteria The PNEC Cornerstone Award recognizes distinguished contribution in the application of data and information principles to petroleum development and recovery, and recognizes outstanding achievements in or contributions to the advancement of upstream petroleum data and information management in the industry. 1) The candidate must be living, but the death of a candidate after May 1 does not render them ineligible during that year; the award may be presented posthumously in this case.
2) Current Cornerstone Award Committee Members and those who have served in these positions during the past 4 years are not eligible.
3) If a candidate is not selected, they can be re-nominated if all other eligibility requirements are met. Current nominations that did not receive the award are maintained as active nominees for a 3 year period of elgibility.
4) A particular technical discipline is not a requirement for consideration.
5) The candidate must register and attend the PNEC Annual meeting May 15-17, 2012 in Houston. Timeline: 1. Nominations Open January 1, 2012 2. Nomination Deadline March 21, 2012 3.
