Session 3: Head Quarter - Affiliate Data Management: A Datatype-centric Approach to Support a Global Data Strategy

Total is a multicultural company with affiliates all over the world. How can we align data management strategies, facilitate sharing and best practices adoption, and consolidate geosciences data investments? TOTAL has started 4 years ago a datatype-centric approach with HQ entities and Affiliates to map Geosciences & Reservoir Data Management practices at a worldwide level. Initial step has been the definition and the activation of our Data Management network: local responsibilities spread into our Business Units and in our Affiliates. Our Datatype-Centric methodology has then enabled a clear evaluation of Data Management maturity map with our partners. This corner stone has then enabled: Digital Roadmap clarification, digital projects alignment between HQ and Local resources. In cost reduction context for the affiliates, close collaboration with HQ becomes very beneficial to update the existing process, which allows the improvements of overall efficiency, benefit from the new workflows already put in place in HQ, participation in pilot projects and test the new innovative technologies. We are continuously looking for the improvement of the existing processes and alignment of worldwide community which helps to go in the same direction. We’ll share with you the concrete projects put in place after the implementation of this initiative, concrete results and best practices which have the direct impact on the data management efficiency and on our digital journey.
