Healthcare has been on a clear role to transformation with new and innovative technologies becoming more mainstream. COVID has provided the perfect opportunity for cultural adoption both for patients and providers. Houston Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX developed a Center for Innovation roughly two years ago to exploit these opportunities and bring new technologies to our patients. From telemedicine to care pathways, to chat bots and revenue cycle, there have been a plethora of technologies that have disrupted and improved operations at the organization. The Center has the opportunity to negotiate, pilot, and either graduate or “fail” particular projects. This structure allows for easy scalability. Healthcare has much more work to do in areas such as artificial intelligence and patient empowerment, and the Center for Innovation plans to be in the crux of this development.
